The a.ROBE.is project represents traditional, authentic clothing of Central Asia. The national robe-coat, known as “chapán,” was brought from the country of Oz – that’s how we fondly refer to their country of origin, Ozbekiston (or Usbekistan in English).
The mission of our project is to share the beauty of this attire with the world and offer the opportunity for everyone who is enchanted by it, just like we are, to acquire it.
a.ROBE.is unique handmade clothing of 100% natural cotton including lining and filling (cotton wool), that provides warmth in cold weather and protects from heat. Its main function is to maintain a comfortable body temperature regardless of the outside weather conditions, and a.ROBE.is “breathing” due to being exclusively made from natural fabrics.
The pattern of aROBE fabric is created by dyeing the threads in a specific manner before weaving the fabric. The pre-dyed threads form the intricate design on the fabric, giving it a unique and sometimes “blurred” contour. This technique is known as «ikat.”
All the fabric of aROBE is hand-stitched, making its creation a highly meticulous and intricate process.
The uniqueness of aROBE lies in the fact that the fabrics used to make it are produced in small sections, precisely enough for 12 pieces. As a result, it is incredibly rare to come across a similar pattern or design, ensuring that the aROBE you purchase will be one-of-a-kind. The probability of double dressing is practically reduced to zero, making each aROBE truly special and exclusive.
